We got this Hyundai Theta II 2.0L ready for some serious boost!

We went all out on this rebuild to handle the addition of a sizable turbocharger to this once naturally aspirated engine. First the engine block and cylinder head got the full machine shop treatment. Both the engine block and cylinder head got decked to ensure absolute trueness while removing as little as material as possible.  To make sure the head gasket stays sealed tight under the higher cylinder pressure, we machined threaded inserts into the block deck and installed ARP head studs for maximum clamping force. We took it one step further and performed the same process to the main caps and had the bottom end of the block machined to accept threaded inserts for the ARP main stud kit.

We continued to fully fortify the block with a set of Darton wet-sleeves which were pressed in and then honed with a torque plate after our ARP head stud install in order to simulate the cylinder bore distortion under clamping forces. Then we had the crank journals and caps align honed to confirm absolute trueness under clamping force and distortion of the caps from the ARP studs. The remainder of the bottom end was fitted with Wiesco pistons, and Brian Crower connecting rods riding on King Racing Series bearings with some precise oil tolerances to keeping the rotating assembly spinning smoothly!

Up top, the head got a full port job and a complete Brian Crower valvetrain upgrade including valves, springs, and retainers. . We also spent time smoothing out the oil drain paths inside the cylinder head for better oil return flow to the oil pan and we cleaned up all the rough casting edges on the engine block as well. Finally reassembled with all new timing components and seals, this engine is built to make the power our client demands!
